Aviva Canada is one of the leading property and casualty insurance groups in Canada providing home, auto and business insurance to more than three million customers. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UK-based Aviva PLC and has more than 4,000 employees, 27 locations across Canada and 1,500 independent broker.
MARANT was retained as the Construction Manager for Aviva’s downtown office project dubbed the “Digital Garage.” Aviva wanted to breakaway from tradition to create a contemporary space that caters to the needs of its 21st century workforce, while also maintaining the brand’s culture as an innovative, forward thinking insurance group. The new environment consists of open work areas, an assortment of tech-supported formal and informal meeting spaces (e.g. repurposed shipping container), phone rooms, and collaborative lounges which all surround the building core.
The design celebrates a raw aesthetic (open ceilings) with advanced technology that allows staff to work from anywhere within the facility. The team achieved a fresh look and feel within budget, while maintaining the firm’s overall brand essence and moving them in on time despite an aggressive schedule.
“On this extremely dynamic project with very challenging timelines, MARANT’s team was flexible enough to adapt to any obstacle and they got the job done on time.”
