Kinross has become one of the world’s leading gold mining companies and operates a “focused portfolio” of eight mines located in four key regions:  United States, Chile, Brazil and Russia.

The new office location was selected in a LEED Gold certified building with a pressurized raised floor. The building fit well with the company’s philosophy on environmental stewardship. The process to design a unique space, utilizing the sustainability features of the building (e.g. in floor HVAC system) began in early 2009 with a scheduled move-in date of September of the same year. As the base building was still under construction at the time the leasehold improvements were to begin for Kinross, schedule challenges arose. A new “accelerated” schedule was prepared by MARANT in order to complete the 82,500 sf facility on time. Although not a certified project, LEED standards for materials and construction practices were implemented.

“With 25 York being a new LEED certified building, a number of challenges arose during the construction process. MARANT’s team did not disappoint and dealt with many complicated issues in a professional, proactive and seemingly effortless manner. I look forward to working with them on our 15th floor expansion.”
